Human-Centred Design
Adoption of a human-centred approach to the design to make systems usable and useful by focusing on the users, their needs and requirements, and by applying human factors, usability knowledge, and ergonomics techniques. The research is based on Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) simulation to improve process effectiveness and efficiency, human wellbeing, and comfort of workplace environments by using digital human models. It allows analysing the workplace environments with virtual people that can scale to match different population characteristics, and verify visibility and accessibility issues. Workstation designs and operations can be tested for a wide variety of human factors, including injury risk, timing, user comfort, reachability, lines-of-sight, energy expenditure, fatigue limits, and other important parameters.
